Michael Vick is currently under house arrest, serving out the final 60 days of his 23 month jail term for dog fighting. As those days tick down, speculation begins where Vick will restart his NFL career after being released by the Atlanta Falcons earlier in June. It is expected that when Vick is eligible to play football again, he will be immediately suspended by self imposed NFL traffic cop, Commissi0ner Roger Goodell. And Goodell has tons of supporters from the masses of tree hugging, fur hating, animal advocates who believe Vick should burn in Hell let alone ever play football again. Question is, is it right to punish Vick further?
Don’t get me wrong, dog fighting is a cruel, heinous activity that should not be classified as a sport. I have two dogs and would never tolerate seeing them abused. In saying that (don’t jump on me PETA!), we are talking about animals here folks. Yes, the animals are family but do you put the same value on your pet that you do on your spouse or child??? Which one would you rescue first if you had to?
Pac-Man Jones put a man in a wheelchair for life, he played last year and is eligible to play right now. Heck, its widely speculated Ray Lewis was involved in the murder of two people in 2000, was guilty of obstructing justice as a result and became the Defensive Player of the Year and Superbowl MVP the following season, so why are we so hot and bothered about Vick??? The man lost two years of his life in his prime football earning days and all his endorsements. Yes he did it to himself, but he paid the price mandated by society. Time for us to move on folks!
Do Dallas Cowboy fans see anything wrong with the picture to the right? Yes sir, that is Terrell Owens, the Cowboys top receiver the last three years (actually the last 10 years going back to Michael Irvin) with a BUFFALO BILLS backdrop behind him. I have been catching the talking heads giving their predictions for the 2009 football season and every one I heard expects the Cowboys to do better this year. Why? Well it’s addition by subtraction of course… Huh?!?
